Engine Mounts

This page shows the major differences between motor mounting points on the frame of the vehicle.  This is another of many  things that make the early L-body vehicles unique when compared with later years.

The early style L-body passenger side motor mount used from '78 to '80?.  Looks a bit different from what was done with the later L-body and K platform vehicles mount pictured below.

This is the later style passanger mount.  Notice how it bolts in from the top with 2 bolts instead of 1 from the side.

Here is the tranny mount.  Compared to the later ones it sits more inbound and attaches to the body from north to south where the later one bolts to the body east west.

Later style L-body trans mount.  Notice how much more metal the later ones had compared to the early ones.
